Tom McGeveran commented on On the strange tenacity of the 'New York Post'

No, I think these things you mention, that everyone got wrong (multiple bombs for instance) are covered at the beginning of this article. And, the Post knows the difference between someone being in police custody and someone being questioned; this man was not in custody any more than anyone being treated at the hospital who police wanted to talk to as witnesses and asked to stay there was. Which I also think I covered. Perhaps the politics you impute to me are better imputed to the Post: Why did they privelege the story of a 20-year-old Saudi national being questioned by police over the dozens of others the Boston police chief told us were also being questioned, when he warned viewers not to make anything much of any individuals being questioned by police?

NBC is for some reason promoting the idea that Jimmy's the one behind moving it back here from Burbank, even while promoting the idea Fallon was trying to keep his head down and his mouth shut while the whole thing played out. More

Tom McGeveran commented on Extra! Print newspaper reports politicians' arrest before it happens

Also, old-fashioned questions about media ethics (leaks! prosecutions! photo calls!) are more fun than the new ones (native advertising! Twitter misbehavior!)

  • mauramaura: @tmcgev ahahahaha you are welcome, and AMAZING.
  • jcstearnsjcstearns: @tmcgev This haunts the edges of your piece but isn't discussed explicitly.
  • jcstearnsjcstearns: @tmcgev Reporting on media is also critical because of media's democratic function. Too often media reporting focuses only on business side.
