Tacony Palmyra commented on New York's South Asians and the Saujani test

It's not clear to me how Saujani differs from Maloney on any issue. The "issues" page on her website is full of generic, uncontroversial stands that basically amount to "support things that people support!" and "do this better!" And I wouldn't understate, as you note Avi, that South Asian Americans aren't at all a politically homogeneous group, which makes trying to be their representative a bit schizophrenic. I'm a little unimpressed with this run. Is Saujani's only complaint that Maloney is too old and not quite as effective a politician as Saujani would be?

Tacony Palmyra commented on Is the East Village getting noisier or just grumpier?

The East Village has long had the most bars per capita in New York. The fact that the clientèle frequenting these bars has changed is not surprising. Residents trying to stop that change are going to be disappointed in the end because they romanticize an East Village during its earlier stages of gentrification-- a period which is by definition only temporary.
