Interesting perspective. I'm white and I don't like Mad Men, for essentially the same reasons - the whole thing feels very cliche to me. Certainly the larger themes it addresses (mostly obliquely, which is also a cliche) are cliche - "Civil Rights Movement in the 60s", "Feminism in the 60s", "Homosexuality in the 60s" &c. You can tell that the writers are certainly a product of their parents' generation. Anyway, nice piece. Thanks.
