mike226 commented on Breaking Bad, the final season: Men without pants
Starlee, Hey, superb analysis as always. Thanks! I’ve been looking forward to reading this and it was definitley worth the wait. Just a few things I’d like to mention. I too always thought that despite how bad of a guy Walt can be, if it was not for him and his actions, Hank would not be in the position he currently finds himself in. As you stated a few weeks back, both Hank and Walt have risen through the ranks, DEA and drug world, directly alongside one another. They have fed off each other all this time and a confrontation is long due. I cannot wait to see exactly how it unfolds! Gilligan and company definitely left us a lot of unanswered questions, specifically with respect to Walt’s supposed departure from the business. His statement to Skylar that he is out did seem genuine. And his payment to Jesse was a huge relief. How are you so sure that the cancer is back? Do you think he was perhaps just reminiscing on the good old days of Jesse and the RV when he stared at the punched indentation he had left? I do think that after the body scan he seemed to take a sudden, drastic turn in personality back to his old self, which was comforting to see. And this would definitely fit the theory that his cancer has returned and he is finally content with his achievements. Just wondering if you know something regarding this matter that I may not be aware of or caught. I'm sure you've read over the poem by now, Gliding Over All by Whitman. GLIDING o'er all, through all, Through Nature, Time, and Space, As a ship on the waters advancing, The voyage of the soul--not life alone, Death, many deaths I'll sing. I think the painting of the man out at sea and title of this episode are linked together. And if so I feel that this is an omen for what is to come. Walt is the man out at sea, abandoning his family. That is the best case scenario I guess. I just hope that they are not going to have to pay for his evil deeds with their lives. I was on the edge of my seat during those last few moments thinking that tragedy was about to strike on Walt Jr. by that bright sunny pool. The serene setting really had my adrenaline flowing, expecting the worse to happen at any second! Lastly, are you going to be providing reviews for part 2 of season 5 next summer? I really hope so. Thanks again for an enjoyable read and I look forward to more hopefully in a year. Take care, MikePosted on September 4th, 2012 6:00pm
