Season one of "Jersey Shore" was lightning in a bottle. (Coincidentally, also the name of Pauly D's favorite cologne.) It's not that The Situation and Snooki were talented or particularly telegenic—let's not kid ourselves—but they did have a certain unvarnished quality that made for entertaining television.
