Thanks, Michael. I actually got a very similar response from NARA (after being directed there by the FBI) and then a follow-up response alerting me of the destruction and the disposition date.

Why do I feel like every time I look up the Nets are playing the Knicks?

jrb commented on Amid shooting horrors, Anne Hathaway shows how to respond to a flash

While their death story doesn't even compete with the power of the Post's, I was saying I'd be embarrassed to be caught looking at the NYDN today because of the Hathaway thing. It's not the sexy-funny-sleazy tabloid fare; it's straight up gross.

I would have to give it to the Post today, because the recognition of this story is so high, it needs little to no explanation. Also, there's that sleazy line to be walked, and the NYDN slipped into the filth. Next week's exclusive: ANGEL OF DEATH DESCENDS ON LOCAL HOSPICE.

Yeah, the Post guys were ready to go home. Also: their photo has Obama looking like Steve Coogan when he plays a villain. This cover feels like a tense jaw.

jrb commented on Shocker?! Two renderings of 'Rah Rah' Raul's big moment

Today's a good one for wood war. Agree with your decision, but I did see the point of the Post's pic. While the NYDN went bigger with the headline, the Post's pic draws the eye to the headline. Thus, it won me over.

jrb commented on Lindsay Lohan moves to New York and all we get is this lousy picture

"the editorial page, which is written in Australian..." -- killed me. Have to say, today was a NYDN day for me. Cheap shot at LiLo (even at a glance, you can tell that she's moving and blinking by the way her hair is going in the picture). "SPARED," to me, is a hats off moment of pun-itry. But also because I don't think tabloid readers really care about Vito Lopez, so going big on the story isn't going to move papers.

jrb commented on Christie's view of Romney looks a little like Murdoch's

"'CANE PAIN" is such a 'How about... uh... I got nothin' headline. And I enjoyed the Post's "secret" teaser, but felt the story could have explained why exactly the pay-to-play laws would affect Romney's fundraising operation, because I'm still mystified by that a bit.
