JOR commented on Tumblr's David Karp on the closing of Storyboard: It 'didn't work'

Storyboard has gotten bigger and overshadowed Karp and tumblr. Karp, and much of tumblr users, are narcissists, and no, no, no, he can't have that. That's why he had to eliminate it. Maybe the only thing working for that platform.

JOR commented on Is it marketing or is it journalism? The case of Tumblr's 'Storyboard'

It's selling or shilling-out. tumblr storyboard and other categories feature mostly their friends -- virtual and real, people they've met at meet-ups whom they want to hook-up with in real life, and those paying them to be featured in storyboard.

JOR commented on Flushing Meadows Corona Park: Lots of land, little upkeep

I know you're skating around the real issue here so as not to attract controversy in your part, but don't forget that, in addition to working class families, mostly immigrant -- Latino/Hispanic, Southeast Asians, etc. -- families use Flushing Meadows park, outside of the U.S. Open. It's only when U.S. Open is in town when you see white people in the park and the park being maintained. Just shows you where the white billionaire mayor and the park commissioner's priorities lie. Good to be white and young and wealthy in Bloomberg's NYC.

JOR commented on The Catsimatidis holiday card

And the point of this post is...? Bloomberg is wealthier and a bigger douche than any of the Republican candidates combine. But hey, Capital New York loves him because he's made NYC safer for the hipster writers at CNY.

JOR commented on The storm after the storm: Returning to the office, champagne in hand, 'Newsweek' staff awaits the ax

Print isn't dead; Newsweek print is dead. Anyone who says or gives rationales that print is dead on why their news or media print is dead just doesn't know how to run a news or print media business.

JOR commented on Stringer 'steps up' and the mayoral field adjusts, respectfully

This is just part of the Bloomberg/Quinn/Stringer triangle of power. Much like the Putin/Medvedev/ Anton Siluanov . Quinn will take over as mayor in 2013. After one term, she hands it over to emperor Bloomberg, which, of course he'll remain mayor for another three terms or as long as he wants as long as he can break term limits. Stringer, is just satisfied being the comptroller as long as he is holding a position in the public office. Bloomberg is just stringing him along.

JOR commented on Will Bourne named next editor of the 'Voice'; Guy Fieri accuses Peter Wells of an 'agenda'

On Bourne being Village Voice's editor: “I plan to reinforce the paper’s position as a showcase for progressive — but balanced, disciplined — journalism, and to make it an even more forceful presence on the culture front. Let's hope so. Village voice was a totally different animal from what Norman Mailer' paper under Ortega and that Phoenix base Village Voice Media. Hope he alos hires New Yorkers, not recent transplants who only know NY via gossip, media, and Sex and the City. On Guy Fieri: Who is Guy Fieri?

JOR commented on Bryan Cranston, Padma Lakshmi, Newt Gingrich, Matt Lauer, Michael Nutter cast non-Obama votes for 'Time' Person of the Year

Padma only gave a speech about Malala Yousufzai. How about Malala Yousufzai herself, having survived that Taliban bullet? And or how about Samira Ibrahim?
