John Armstrong commented on Martin O'Malley says he doubts Andrew Cuomo spends much time thinking of 2016
I applaud Governor O'Malley's leadership in Maryland. He has become a champion of clean energy, and has acted responsibly with regard to fracking (having signed an executive order for a 3-year moratorium and 3-year study on the health, environmental, and economic issues). If Governor Cuomo wants to consider a presidential run, he needs to show similar leadership. Right now he is on the verge of letting fracking proceed in New York without looking at the best science, adequately looking at economic and socioeconomic conditions, and with no study of public health impacts. If he lets fracking go forward in NY, it will be at the cost of people's water, air quality, and the fabric of local towns' economies. He will be the governor who poisoned New York's water, and is responsible for one of the worst public health catastrophes in our state's history. Governor Cuomo needs to show real leadership and aggressively invest in a clean energy economy, and reject fracking.Posted on January 27th, 2012 10:15am
