Here-in lies the risk of a bad pun, right? Maybe I'm giving the News too much credit, but I figured, and kind of appreciated, that they were going for a casino metaphor, as is often used to characterize Wall Street. Ultimately, though, I think the cover would have been better and funnier if it was just "Crap!" Who needs the pun when you have good visual humor? Also, glad to see the Germans have the sense to take the good with the bad. Not in America! We're exceptional!

No, I'm with John on this. I think the Taleses of our day—a Gessen, say, or a McGeveran or Sicha (okay, probably not a Sicha)—care a hell of a lot about their food. Furthermore, I think there's the whole stratification thing. Kenmare, like Beatrice, is ultimately built for models and bankers, not the creative class. "The next crop of actors, popstars, novelists, fashion designers, Wall Street bigwigs, magazine stars and adult heirs of New York" are probably dining out in Brooklyn, maybe at Roberta's or Franklin Park, or, more realistically, having a potluck at their loft using the week's CSA bounty.

I heard recently, I believe on Slate's wonderful sports podcast Hang Up and Listen, that more people now watch MLS than either the NBA or NHL. This was chocked up to our fine nation's growing Hispanic population, which may not yet make it as commercially viable as those two, but who the hell knows? I can't find any articles through Google to back this up either, but it is an interesting prospect.

Fun fact! That birch ceiling? It's being repaired. Sources tell me this was the last meeting in the Chambers for the next two years. Glad to see it was time well spent.
