I think she's always been pretty true to the principle that you don't have to be mean to be funny, so she's not going to take a shot at Sarah Palin, or any other woman, politician, or comedian just for a laugh. She also has a sense for when and where she's interested in addressing political or feminist topics, and she doesn't let anyone pick a fight with her just for the sake of the fight. She'll always have a place at the Weekend Update news desk for that kind of thing, when she wants it. Her 92nd Street Y appearance has a different context. It seems like she wanted to keep things lighter, friendlier, and more personal than a political rant, which anyone can make, for that audience.Posted on June 21st, 2012 9:52am
