djbens commented on Matt Harvey pitches a near-perfect game, shocking no one

The last time someone deified a Mets pitcher like this was when John Koblin wrote about Jonathan Niese for the Observer. Niese went on to dominate his next bunch of starts, as I recall. I hope Megdal has the same journalistic Midas Touch.

djbens commented on Politics by other means with Anthony Bourdain

I love that guy in a "fanboy-geeked-out" way. Great interview.

I hope the cameras nail box-blockers too.

djbens commented on 'You may be on drugs': Sean Hannity hosts a debate over Cuomo's gun bill

Hannity didn't even bother to learn how to pronounce Gianaris' name. That's a special kind of lazy journalism.

djbens commented on What's left for the Yankees at the Marlins' fire sale?

I love LoMo. He could be the new Swisher in terms of fun and energy. He had a bad run in Florida because Florida sucks and Florida's fans don't show up. I think he'd be great in NY. Megdal - Cashman needs to have a direct line to you.

djbens commented on From wildlife refuge to table: A story about the culled Jamaica Bay geese

I remember seeing a story about these Canada Geese years ago when they were befouling a golf course in Westchester and the concern was that they were ruining the aquifer. At the time they rounded them up and gassed them in the back of 18-wheelers, as I recall, and the geese were then destroyed. This program seems like a much better idea.

djbens commented on At the inaugural Great GoogaMooga, food, bands, long lines, and trash-talking from Anthony Bourdain

Mr. Rosenblum didn't mention that Hall and Oates put on a ridiculously good show and that, for some reason, ?uestlove was backstage the whole time looking like he was going to come on and perform with them, but never did. Other than that, I think he captured Googamooga perfectly.

djbens commented on Andy Pettitte's return gives the Yankees a hero, if not an upgrade

I think the Yankees are following Megdal's advice from a few seasons ago: rotation by committee. Pettitte is playing the role Megdal suggested for Pedro Martinez -- a low-priced veteran winner.
