brooklynsandy commented on 'Times' will end partnerships with N.Y.U., CUNY on hyperlocal blogs

The association of The Local with the imprimatur of The New York Times connection certainly did not enhance the NY Times. Many of the Local's stories have been fluff and empty of serious community investigation. The ball was dropped on Habana Outpost's annual Block Party draw of a couple of thousand motorcyclists and party goers well into the nighttime of May 19th...repeating the volatility, onerous noise and assault to public safety of years past. Had The Local been giving equal time to videoing Meenan's social networked Party Central redux horror, as they did to Habana's "solar powered toilet"... Ft Greene's Community Board 2 might not have been so quick to rubber stamp the impending Habana Cafe 24/7 16 seat(!) liquor license ratification. While there may not be the wherewithal to investigate all the details of bad actors supported with impunity in this ever gentrifying neighborhood...those advances and growth which are truly positive should be balanced by reporting the entire neighborhood picture... Who will report the facts?
