Senate Democrats Michael Gianaris, Liz Krueger, Kevin Parker, Dan Squadron, Gustavo Rivera and Jose Peralta make fun of their effort to get Governor Andrew Cuomo to sign independent redistricting.
The joke hits on a real sore spot between Democrats in the State Senate and Cuomo, who signed off on gerrymandered redistricting maps drawn by Republicans in that chamber.
It was part of the Legislative Correspondence Association's annual roast of politicians in Albany, and features cameos from Errol Louis, Al D'Amato and David Paterson, among others.
Worth watching to the very end, if you care about this sort of thing. More

Cuomo's spokesman fired back at Silver, releasing a statement saying he's "wrong" and "Apparently he hasn't read the bill yet."
Ironically, the State Senate, which passed Cuomo's legislation, problem didn't read the 78-page legislation, since they passed it without a public hearing, Bill Hammond noted. The Assembly, so far, hasn't had a hearing on it either. But now, maybe they will. More

Chris Bragg confirmed something I'd been hearing today: The Liberal Party held their candidate interview meetings inside the office of Manhattan Media, whose owner, Tom Allon, is running for mayor on the party's line.
Bragg, reporting on his boss, notes the meeting was held in "the place where Allon’s weekly newspapers hold candidate interviews." More
