I see what you're trying to say, but there's this: "For the record, conservative Cardinal Timothy Dolan publicly disagreed with President George W. Bush on capital punishment and the invasion of Iraq. Nobody thought this was particularly noteworthy." Perhaps it's because, unlike the Church and Obama's contraception policy, the Cardinal and his colleagues did not compel priests to deliver anti-death penalty or anti-war sermons, or publicly deny Communion to Catholic politicians who disagreed with them. I appreciate how the Church is frequently misunderstood, but on some issues they're not innocent bystanders.
