Hopes for a fast train to the Rockaways are raised, then dashed again
On Friday morning, just hours before Governor Andrew Cuomo was to reveal that talks to build a $4 billion convention center in Queens had collapsed, Assemblyman Phil Goldfeder climbed a rusty trestle to an abandoned train track lush with plant life and described how the nearby convention center development might spark a rejuvenation of the long-derelict railroad, and by extension, southeastern Queens.
