Jeremy Lin
Ruling may free the Knicks to build around Jeremy Lin, or replace him
The news broken by Howard Beck of The New York Times Monday night—that the N.B.A. players' union will bring a case before an arbitrator that could allow the Knicks to easily retain both Jeremy Lin and Steve Novak—has enormous ramifications for New York's offseason. More

A memorable 2012 ends badly for the Knicks; can they get a grip on next season?
There's not much else to say about the Knicks' 2011-12 lockout-shortened season. It started out poorly, even before they lost Carmelo Anthony and Amar'e Stoudemire to injury, then it got good after they found Jeremy Lin, then it got bad and coach Mike D'Antoni quit, then it got good again for a while after Mike Woodson took over and they made the playoffs, where, finally, it ended horribly. The Jeremy Lin era isn't over, it's just on hold; Robertson does his Rivera impression
Yesterday afternoon, Knicks coach Mike Woodson announced that Jeremy Lin had not been medically cleared to play in New York's series against the Miami Heat. With the Knicks trailing 3-1 entering Game 5 in Miami, that was essentially telling the world that Jeremy Lin will not play for the Knicks again until next year. MoreMay 9, 2012 9:00 am
If Jeremy Lin can't play against Miami, the Knicks should just forget about point guards altogether
With Baron Davis out for a year following a gruesome knee injury in Sunday's game against Miami, the Knicks have, as anyone who watches them for more than a few seconds knows, a point-guard problem. More

For the Knicks, playing with Jeremy Lin also means playing with his future
The argument in favor of playing Lin is predicated on the belief that the Knicks still have a chance, if they put the right team on the court. More

A Reed-like comeback for Jeremy Lin, even without the championship
In light of the 2-0 deficit facing the New York Knicks in their series with the Miami Heat, and Amar'e Stoudemire's likely absence, Knicks may be forgiven for taking what pleasure they can in the possible return of Jeremy Lin. More

The Knicks play up to their ability against Miami, and fail again
If Saturday's Game 1 loss to the Miami Heat was demoralizing for the Knicks because of just how poorly they played, Monday night's 104-94 defeat in Game 2 will have upset them for precisely the opposite reason: they lost despite quite a lot going right. More

Unfortunately for the Knicks, Carmelo Anthony isn't the issue
The Knicks' 100-67 to the Miami Heat on Saturday was less a basketball game than a collection of the worst-case scenarios for every single member of the Knicks, stuffed into several hours of national television time.
Really, take your pick: Carmelo Anthony's 3-for-15 shooting? The complete disappearance of Amar'e Stoudemire? A flu-ridden and completely ineffective Tyson Chandler, with zero points and seven turnovers? More

Toney Douglas, of all people, lifts the Knicks over Orlando
This has been a season of violently shifting narratives involving Knicks players: Jeremy Lin, marginal pick-up to international phenomenon; Carmelo Anthony, slumping malcontent to team leader; Amar'e Stoudemire, enfeebled has-been to dominant force and then back again.
But there's been one constant: Toney Douglas has been terrible. More

The Jeremy Lin phase is over; now the Knicks just need someone to distribute the ball
In all likelihood, the Jeremy Lin portion of the tumultuous story that has been the New York Knicks this season has come to an end.
The team announced Saturday that Lin has a meniscus tear in his knee. Surgery is to be performed this week, with a recovery time of about six weeks. The N.B.A. regular season ends April 26; that recovery time will take Lin out until roughly the second round of the playoffs, a destination New York will be hard-pressed to reach without him. More

Carmelo and the Knicks aim for the Hawks, in a game with potentially big playoff consequences
For weeks now, the Knicks appeared to have three possible outcomes to the end of their regular season.
They could stay where they are, finishing eighth in the Eastern Conference, or nip Boston to reach seventh. Either way, a matchup with Miami or Chicago would follow, without home-court advantage, and New York would be an overwhelming underdog to win a single round in the N.B.A. playoffs. More

Carmelo Anthony explodes against Orlando, as Woodson's banged-up Knicks continue their confounding run
The New York Knicks entered Wednesday night's game against the Orlando Magic knowing that they'd be without power forward Amar'e Stoudemire and point guard Jeremy Lin. They'd have a hobbled Carmelo Anthony playing through a groin injury. More

Anti-guru: The secret of Mike Woodson's success with the Knicks is there isn't one
Mike Woodson had only been coach of the New York Knicks for exactly five games. But the team that couldn’t win in the waning days of his predecessor, Mike D’Antoni, suddenly couldn’t lose. More

The Knicks win again, but how far can they go without Amar'e Stoudemire?
Whatever happens to the the New York Knicks over the remainder of their season will have everything to do with what happened Monday night at Madison Square Garden.
There was the result itself, an 89-80 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks, that helped secure New York's playoff position, at least for now. More

Chandler steadies the Knicks after a stumble, and injury scares from Stoudemire and Lin
