Did you see that barely believable finish to the Premier League season? Do you wish you could see soccer that looks a little like that in America?
Well.
The Yankees announced last week that Chelsea, currently preparing to play Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League final, will be in New York on July 22 to take on the newly beefed-up French side (and current Ligue 1 co-leader) Paris Saint-Germain, coached by former Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti. According to Jack Bell of The New York Times, Real Madrid of Spain's La Liga and Juventus of Serie A in Italy could also face one another at Yankee Stadium on August 8.
There is also a pair of international friendlies coming up at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford. On May 27, Mexico faces Wales, and on June 9, Brazil plays Argentina.
On July 28, at Red Bull Arena, fans will be able to see something called the French Super Cup—a match between the Ligue 1 winner and the French Cup winner. Three days later, Tottenham Hotspur will play the Red Bulls.
The Mets, characteristically, are considering whether to follow the Yankees' lead: A spokesman said they are "exploring a number of options" for soccer at Citi Field.
