Scrappy returns: Anthony Weiner makes a new Twitter account
Anthony Weiner, who resigned his congressional seat over a sext scandal that was exposed by an errant tweet, launched a new Twitter account today.
It's already verified.
He only sent one tweet: a link to his 2013 policy book, which is to be the blue print for his candidacy for mayor, if he runs.
Before his abrupt resignation, Weiner was a prolific, combative Twitter user. He once used the hashtag #ScrappyChasingCrazy while trying to grow the size of his Twitter following to overtake that of Republican congresswoman Michele Bachmann.
Another time, he promised to put up an old embarassing photo of himself if he got enough followers, which he eventually did.
You can see Weiner's old Twitter account, from which he erased all but one photo, here.
As of this writing, the new account has more than 1,000 followers.
Here are the other mayoral candidates, and the number of Twitter followers they have as of this moment.
