Nancy Pelosi dances to a Joe Crowley tune
Nancy Pelosi likes how Rep. Joseph Crowley plays guitar.
The Democratic minority leader was in Manhattan last Thursday for a Crowley fund-raiser, which took place at the top of the Dream Hotel, with about 500 people in attendance. A source at the event passed along this video, where you can see Pelosi grooving along as the Queens congressman plays guitar and sings.
Pelosi mouths the words to "American Pie" as she dances. "Nancy knows all the words but I'm not going to ask her to sing tonight," Crowley tells the crowd.
At one point, he changed the lyrics to include her name, and then added some other Democrats too: "The three people I admired most / Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi the most / they caught the last train for the coast," he sang.
Crowley has a complicated history with Pelosi. He is a close ally of her one-time rival in the Democratic conference, Maryland Rep. Steny Hoyer, which may have stunted Crowley's rise up the Democratic ranks.
But last year, Crowley ran unopposed for the caucus vice chair position, making him the only member of the New York delegation serving in the Democratic leadership.
