"You're a perfect live guest," said CNN host Piers Morgan to City Council Speaker Christine Quinn last night, during an interview about Mayor Michael Bloomberg's plan to ban large sugary drinks.
Quinn, who happily sipped from a 32-ounce cup of Diet Coke that Morgan provided her, said she opposed the drink restriction because it was punitive and didn't provide people, as an alternative, with better access to healthier food.
Quinn supported her ally Michael Bloomberg's ban on smoking and said on CNN that she supported Bloomberg's larger public-health goals, but just not the big-soda policy.
"I'm afraid it's not going to be effective," she said, adding, "On this one, I'm happy to be wrong and I hope the mayor is right."
