A few changes to committee leadership to be voted on this morning at the New York City Council:

According to several knowledgable sources, Mike Nelson of Brooklyn is expected to become the chairman of the Civil Service and Labor Committee.

That post is vacant because it was held by James Sanders of Queens, who was recently elected to the State Senate.

Nelson will relinquish his chairmanship of the Waterfronts Committee, which will go to Peter Koo of Queens, who was elected as a Republican but switched his party registration in January of last year to become a Democrat.
