Obama deploys a Colin Powell ad

President Obama's campaign has released a new ad called "Solid" featuring last week's endorsement from Colin Powell.

The footage consists of Powell responding to questions about the president on CBS "This Morning," when he champions Obama's work on the economy, housing and terrorism.

"I think we ought to keep on the track that we’re on," he says.

(Powell's actual answer was too long for a tight 30-second spot, so it's edited to sound like a single pithy answer; the campaign included a transcript of the interview with the release.)

Powell's endorsement meant a lot in 2008, when he was just a few years removed from serving as Secretary of State for President George W. Bush, but the general hasn't been in the news as much in recent years.

John Sununu, an adviser to Mitt Romney shrugged off the endorsement shortly after Powell's announcement, saying he had a "slightly different reason" to support him, which was that they're both black.
