The Obama campaign sent out a quick response to a new Gallup-USA Today poll this afternoon showing Mitt Romney opening up a lead in some key swing states, and pulling even among women voters.
The poll of twelve swing states shows Romney ahead among likely voters 51 percent to 46 percent. The sudden shift, according to Gallup, is due to Romney closing his substantial gap among likely women voters, who are split evenly in the survey, after months of favoring Obama by a substantial margin.
The Obama memo, written by top pollster Joel Benenson, calls the finding "an extreme outlier, defying the trends seen in every other battleground and national poll."
The problem, according to Benenson, is that Gallup's screening process for determining likely voters skews toward Romney supporters. Among registered voters, the survey shows Obama with a nine-point lead among women.
Benenson, who will serve as a pollster for Christine Quinn's mayoral race next year, also included a chart showing a number of other post-debate state polls, which show Obama leading by 10.3 points.
Still, it might not be great news when the campaign snaps to attention to protest polling methods.
Once again, the next US presidential election will be fixed. Mitt Romney will be elected even though Barack Obama would have received more votes in the 2012 election. The political assassination will be perpetrated by Bush hiding behind Crossroads GPS, the most influential group of Neocons.
The Neocons will have Mitt Romney elected to first use him and then let him fall easy prey. All blames and responsibilities will fall on the new Mormon president for the events already planned.
