Andrew Cuomo to appear at Artists for Obama fund-raiser
The event is hosted by Chuck Close, Milly and Arne Glimcher, and Dorothy Lichtenstein, the widow of pop artist Roy Lichtenstein.
Tickets start at $250 to attend the event, and go up to $50,000, which includes a large, limited edition portrait of Obama by Close.
Cuomo has attended a couple of fund-raisers for the president over the past year, but this is the first time he's been listed as a special guest attraction.
Cuomo has said repeatedly that he fully supports the president, and is willing to do whatever the campaign asks of him, but he has yet to be meaningfully involved in the re-election effort.
Unlike some of his fellow governors, Cuomo does not appear on the Sunday shows as a surrogate, and he generally avoids traveling out-of-state, citing his duties as governor of New York. But fund-raising is one area where Cuomo can help, without crossing state lines.
The president will not be attending the event.
Artists for Obama recently hosted a fund-raiser in Chelsea featuring Patrick Gaspard, and the group said it hopes to raise more than $4 million for the president's re-election.
