This morning, House Democrats unveiled a new web site featuring the ten House Republicans they say they're most unlikely to unseat. Along with Nan Hayworth in NY-18, Ann Marie Buerkle in NY-24 and Michael Grimm in NY-11, the list includes Florida's Allen West.
When West holds a fund-raiser in Manhattan on October 1st, among his guests will be NY-06 Republican congressional candidate Dan Halloran. Information about Halloran's plan to attend the event was circulated by the Queens Village Republican Club, and forwarded to me by a reader.
"Dan Halloran will be Congressman West's guest at this event," wrote Phil Orenstein, a board member of the club. "Congressman Allen West's race for re-election is one of the most important in the country for the future security of our Constitutional Republic and so is Dan Halloran's."
A spokesman for Halloran did not immediately return an email seeking comment.
Halloran, who supported the presidential bid of Rep. Ron Paul, a Tea Party icon, recently criticized his Democratic opponent, Assemblywoman Grace Meng, for having a fund-raiser on September 11th.
Halloran and Meng are campaigning for the newly drawn NY-06 congressional seat. One nearby incumbent congressman, Democrat Rep. Gary Ackerman, chose not to seek re-election, and Republican freshman Bob Turner made a failed bid for Senate after his district was nearby district was drastically redrawn.
