This week, Senator Chuck Schumer chided Mayor Michael Bloomberg for criticizing President Barack Obama on gun control, telling the Washington Post that the mayor was being "unfair" when he argued, as he does often, that Obama and Mitt Romney are equivalently ineffective on the matter.
Today, unbidden, the mayor said Schumer was "just wrong."
"He says, 'Oh, Obama's a lot better on guns than Romney,'" said Bloomberg, during his regular Friday morning appearance on the John Gambling radio show. "Romney, at least, when he was governor of Massachusetts, passed a bill in Massachusetts banning assault weapons. Now, today he's on the other side of it. The president of the United States, Barack Obama, when he campaigned four years ago, campaigned and said he would get a bill passed and never did anything."
"Neither of them have been willing to stand up, neither the Democrats nor the Republicans," said the mayor, today.
