Assemblywoman Naomi Rivera is currently the subject of four separate investigations into allegations that she inappropriately employed a boyfriend on her staff and, separately, that another boyfriend working for a nonprofit that she helped fund spent the organization's money on their dates.
The investigations are being conducted by the Bronx district attorney, the state attorney general, the Joint Commission on Public Ethics and the F.B.I.
Before news of the scandals hit the press, Rivera sent out this mailer, featuring an endorsement she got from Senator Kirsten Gillibrand.
In the mailer, which was passed on to me by a reader, Gillibrand is quoted saying, "Naomi is working 24-7."
A campaign spokesperson for Gillibrand told me today that the senator still supports Rivera, who is facing spirited primary challenges from Mark Gjonaj, who owns a real estate company; Adam Bermudez, a reporter-turned-Democratic operative (and aspiring interment sensation); and Irene Estrada-Rujak, a parent coordinator.
