Mike Morey, the New York City press secretary for Senator Chuck Schumer, announced in an email this afternoon that he's leaving the senator's office for a job at SKD Knickerbocker.

Morey had served under Schumer for nearly six years, in New York City and as the Hudson Valley Regional Director. Morey replaced Josh Vlasto as press secretary in 2010, when Vlasto left to work for Andrew Cuomo's gubernatorial campaign, after his own six-year stint with Schumer.

Hillary Clinton once called Schumer's press operation the "boot camp for politics," with press aides expected to churn out a a steady stream of Sunday press conferences, amid the general expectation that the senator's own hard work will be duly reflected in the press clippings.

As such, Schumer aides have been disproprotionately successful in their post-Chuck careers; and Morey will join another noted Schumer alum, Josh Isay, at Isay's firm SKD Knickerbocker.

He'll be replaced by Max Young, who's handled Schumer's upstate press, and also served as deputy communications director for the Democratic Policy and Communications Committee, the Senate's combined press and policy shop, which is run by Schumer.

Maybe Mike is getting out before the November elections when "King" Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Schumer and his Fellow Democ"RATS" will be returned to the minority.

Good luck Mike and make sure you make a lot of money in your new job.
