Residents of State Senator Joseph Addabbo's district in Queens have been receiving this mailer paid for by the Common Sense Principles PAC, whose website offers no information about who they are, who funds them, or how to contact them. (GoDaddy.com has no particularly useful info on them either. If you have some, please share!)
The mailer features a May 24, 2012 article from City and State, excerpting a sentence fragment that is pretty damning: Addabbo held a fund-raiser at a casino that was supposed to be run by AEG -- whom Democratic state senators were accused of improperly helping win a state contract.*
The other part of the City and State story that isn't mentioned anywhere in the flier reported that the investigation has not led to any charges against anyone. Also, worth noting is that AEG never actually operated the casino and the contract eventually went to Resorts World in a later bid.
Two Republican are running to face Addabbo in November:
City Councilman Eric Ulrich, who has the strong backing of the Senate Republican Leader Dean Skelos, and Juan Reyes, a former Giuliani administration official who the local Queens Republican County organization is backing, in keeping with their longstanding feud with Ulrich.
[NOTE: This article was updated from an earlier version to note AEG was the company who was alleged to have benefit from improper help from lawmakers.]
