In the last six months, Donald Trump, the ostensibly off-message Romney surrogate and former possible Republican presidential candidate, has kept up his attacks on Barack Obama, questioning the president's place of birth, demanding to see his college and law school records, and warning that if he’s elected, gas prices will soar past $5 a gallon after the election (as part of a “deal with the Saudis”).
But he's not so opposed to Democrats that he won't donate to them on occasion.
Back in April, Trump made two donations to New York City Democrats, giving $250 to City Councilman Jimmy Vacca and $320 to Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr.
I reached out to Diaz, now a prospective candidate for public advocate, and Vacca to see if they had any reservations about accepting Trump’s donations. I’ll update when I hear back.
Trump has also donated to a few other Democrats, including $2,500 to Brooklyn district attorney Charles (Joe) Hynes and $10,000 to Nassau County district attorney Kathleen Rice.
