In her first ad of the campaign, Representative Nan Hayworth is touting her roots in the Hudson Valley.
Hayworth is facing re-election for the first time in the swing district she won narrowly in 2010, and the spot emphasizes that she's been there for a while, putting herself through college by working at a steel mill before establishing a opthamological practice.
"For 24 years, I've had the great blessing of living, raising my sons, and caring for patients in our District," Hayworth said in the press release.
It's a not-so-subtle contrast with her Democratic challenger, Sean Patrick Maloney, who has long owned a second home in the area, but was a Manhattan resident until recently.
Hayworth has been outspoken about her opposition to President Obama's health care plan in recent weeks, but the ad doesn't mention that, focusing instead on her biography with just a brief assertion that she's fighting for Medicare and jobs.
