Mitt Romney drew boos from the crowd at the NAACP's annual convention today when he promised to repeal President Obama's signature health care law.
"I'm going to eliminate every non-essential expensive program I can find, and that includes Obamacare," said Romney, who was halfway into his next phrase when the boos began.
Calling it "Obamacare" was at least a little provocative by Romney's standards, as he chose to use the pejorative term preferred by conservatives (and only recently adopted by liberals), in front of a skeptical crowd that still overwhelmingly supports Obama.
Romney has been getting it from both sides, ever since the Supreme Court's decision on the president's plan thrust the issue back into the national spotlight, and forced Romney to once again confront the Massachusetts health plan that served as a model for the federal plan.
National Republicans haven't exactly embraced the challenge of differentiating between the two. Shortly after the court's decision, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said Romney would "have to speak for himself" about the Massachusetts plan.
Some conservative economists are at least trying to be helpful, by asserting that the two plans are, in fact, quite different, and that some of the similarities are a byproduct of Romney's having to compromise with the overwhelmingly Democratic legislature in Massachusetts.
But that's probably cutting it a bit fine.
Romney is a rich pariah who simply can’t identify with ANY average American through his fog of lies and network of havened money. He’ll only continue to get booed out of the room by every group of minority and middle class voters he comes across.
