Republican councilman Eric Ulrich to G.O.P. chairs: Either it's Kelly or 'back to the drawing board'
Yesterday's joint statement from the five Republican county chairman in New York City pleading for a meeting with police commissioner Ray Kelly "before the fall" also included some trial balloons: Eva Moskowitz, Diana Taylor, Adolfo Carrion and Marty Golden.
And, of course, the chairs expressed support for John Catsimatidis, the billionaire who helps funds a lot of local county organizations and who has long been interested in running for office, though he openly says he'd prefer Kelly to run instead of himself.
Councilman Eric Ulrich, who said earlier that Kelly was the only prospective Republican nominee "that stands a chance," isn't impressed with the new round of names.
"If Ray Kelly decides not to run, I think the county chairs need to go back to the drawing board," he told me.
