Obama rebuts an energy ad with 'Swiss Bank Account'
President Obama's re-election campaign is out with a new television ad called, simply, "Swiss Bank Account."
The ad covers a lot of ground in 30 seconds, starting with clips from an Americans for Prosperity ad that attacked the president's energy policy, branding them "over the top," "erroneous," and "out of context."
It then touts Obama's green energy initiatives for creating American jobs, before hitting Mitt Romney for outsourcing jobs as a private-sector executive and governor and then finally getting to the punchline.
“It’s just what you expect from a guy who had a Swiss Bank Account," the narrator says.
The ad is the first to hit Romney for the Swiss account, which Democrats hope will reinforce the notion of the Republican candidate as rich and out of touch.
Politico reports that the campaign has purchased $458,883 in airtime in Ohio, $88,455 in Iowa and $72,845 in Virginia.
