The Obama campaign released a new video this morning, which employs some clips of Bill Clinton to question whether Mitt Romney would have had the courage to authorize the mission that killed Osama bin Laden.
Clinton never directly mentions Romney, talking in general terms about the difficulty in targeting bin Laden's compound in Pakistan and the uncertainty that surrounded the decision.
"He took the harder and more honorable path," Clinton says of the decision, in a clip that was apparently cut from "The Road We've Traveled," the campaign's 17-minute documentary style film. (The campaign was playing this documentary before Biden's big foreign-policy speech yesterday at New York University.)
The video juxtaposes Clinton's praise for the president with a CNN clip that quotes Romney in 2007, saying "it's not worth moving heaven and earth spending billions of dollars just to try to catch one person."
Clinton then says: "He had to decide and that's what you hire a president to do. You hire a president to make the calls when no one else can do it."
The new video comes on the heels of the vice president's "big stick" speech, in which he described in sober tones the painstaking decision to authorize the strike. Biden said Defense Secretary Leon Panetta was the "only full-throated supporter" of conducting the mission.
Biden also suggested that bin Laden would still be alive if Romney were president, and contrasted that with the "ramrod" backbone of Obama.
It was our troops that risk their lives to attack Bin Laden not obama. he wouldn't risk his life for his children! He only acts with a mob behind him, that man wouldn't walk to the store by himself for tea and skiddels. Bill Clinton is a satannest, no nerve in him neither.
When I looking back, Osama bin Laden was dead, that is good news for U.S. However, I have so many friends in Hong Kong and Asian reported that U.S. killed women and children in Bin Laden's house and tried to cover it up. I think the way the handling the case is not appropriate.
Comparing how slow the economy is improving and triple of federal deficits in just four years, I would rather have one bad terrorist Bin Laden, hidden, on the run, still alive, then the whole country still suffer from bad economy, plus the problem of war against terrorists is still not significant improved. I like Obama and I voted for him in 2008. However, this year, I think I will vote for someone who can see the whole picture, using our resources, time, effort, and money wisely to bring prosperity for the country, stabilize the Middle East and strategically fight the war against terrorists, such as, block financial structure, education, communication. Can Obama do the job? Can Mitt do the job?
