'Producer/director/editor/camera operator' Juan Sheng gets into the post-Ackerman primary against Meng and co.
Another candidate has now entered the race for the congressional seat vacated by Rep. Gary Ackerman in Queens:
Juan Sheng, who filed petitions before last night's midnight deadline at 42 Broadway in Lower Manhattan.
Already, there have been accusations of spoiler candidates being recruited to enter the race in order to siphon away votes from someone else. Assemblyman Rory Lancman said the Queens Democratic Party is attempting to split the Jewish vote this way in order to benefit the organization's preferred candidate, Assemblywoman Grace Meng.
Sheng's candidacy could, potentially, peel away votes from Meng, who is relying on support from Asian-American voters, who account for about 40 percent of the district.
Sheng is a television reporter and producer for "The Chinese New Yorker" television show which appears on public access television in Queens and Manhattan, according to her Linkedin page, which also links to a Twitter account. That account is password-protected; the ID after the name is "gorgeous gurl."
