Kirsten Gillibrand, standing in for Hilary Rosen, will debate Michele Bachmann on 'Meet the Press'

Instead of Democratic consultant Hilary Rosen, this Sunday's "Meet the Press" will feature a debate between Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and Representative Michele Bachmann.
Rosen, after inflaming a debate over women in the workplace this week, apparently thought the better of prolonging the conversation about her comments, and tweeted this morning that she would be staying home with her children instead.
That was welcome news to Democrats, who find themselves momentarily on the defensive on what has been a winning narrative about a Republican "war on women."
Gillibrand, one of the earliest and most prominent Democratic carriers of the "war on women" message, had been in talks about appearing even before Rosen was booked, and said on Twitter that she's looking forward to it.
A spokesperson for NBC said the debate would be "about the fight over women voters and how the so-called gender gap will be a factor in the 2012 election."
Gillibrand and Bachmann will appear after Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, and before a roundtable that includes Harold Ford Jr., the former Tennessee congressman who ran an aborted, aggressively critical campaign against Gillibrand in early 2010.

Is David Gregory a REPUBLICAN???? I just watch his segment with Michele Bachmann and I am enraged with the time he allotted to her against the Democratic Senator Kirsten Gilllibrand. If this continues to happen with David, I will NOT be watching Meet the Press any longer....He DEFINITELY needs to be moved to Fox News....Michele Bachmann is ignorant and she is NOT speaking for ALL women....
Michelle Bachman pours Republican propaganda from her mouth...she is a Republican parrot. Hardly anything she just said is true.
I just turned off your show and perhaps forever. Michelle Backman bullied her way into taking most of the talking time and you did nothing to stop her. She had the same rhetoric she did on the stump and she lost. She had nothing new to say. Also, the fact that you are still beating up on Hilary Rosan's comment after she apologized over and over distresses me. There are more important things out there and what I think the point she wanted to make is the sad thing is he needs her to go out there and defend him i.e. the NRA...she looked like a Moma bear protecting her cub. And Michelle, if he is so good in job creation how come his state was 47 out of 50 when he was there? He seems to need her in his campaigns to go out there to soften up the crowd and says too bad Ann is not here....this is a sign of weakness and the sad part is while Ann is a nice person.....the people do not like him and even she cannot change that. What Michelle did not bring up is the fact that he plans to kill planned parenthood and roe v. wade....stop changing the subject with gas prices....they affect both sexes but the p.p. and roe v. wade affect WOMEN. By the way...why has no one asked for an apology from Allen West for his remarks on communism in the dem. party? To me, this is just as important because it reeks of McCarthyism and he is making money off this statement.....that is a subject that needs talking about....Very weak show and totally disappointed in you today David.
David Gregory has lost all the respect I had for him as a moderator allowing Michelle "Bomber" Bachman to twice interupt Kristen Gillibrand when she was giving her remarks when david Gregory asked her to. Gregory owes Sen Gillibrand an apology ON THE AIR because that's when the debate occured. Actually, this was not a debate. It was a one-sided continual blast from Bachman who should also apologize to Sen Gillibrand. All he had to do is shut off Bachman's mike, but he let her ramble on and on.This scenario has been happening a lot lately when Gregory askes both Democrats and Republicans to come on the show and have a debate. He allows the republiucan candidate to ramble on and on and never tries to stop them Case in point: Santorum has been on meet the press lately more than any other guest, one time giving a 22 minute political speech. Gregory's show is now the new mouthpiece of the republican party. A real shame since he took over from a greater moderator in Tim Russert. Russert would never have allowed Bachman to take over the show and promote her misguided beliefs. Nothing more than a huge display of verbal diarehia.
Gillibrand is so much smarter than Bachmann, Bachmann will look like an idiot as usual.
David Gregory, is such a wimp, he couldn't once tell Michele Bockman to shut up and let the Sen, finish her thought. This is why I don't watch meet the press this Man just doesn't have it! He will be replaced eventually because the ratings are going down as we speak!
I am afraid that when you labeled David Gregory a "wimp," you mislabeled him. He is intellectually way out of his league and fails to comprehend the mileau in which he is dealing. I think his intentions are good; he is just incapable to understand where he is and what he is supposed to do. And shame on you for uttering Gregory's name in comparison to Tim Russert. Gregory is a village idiot in comparison to Russert's journalistic savoir faire.
