Mayoral candidates Quinn and de Blasio hold separate anti-groping events in Queens
Early this morning, Council Speaker Christine Quinn, who's running for mayor, went to the corner of 46th Street and Queens Boulevard to hand out fliers alerting residents to a recent groping incident in the neighborhood. Congressman and Queens Democratic leader Joe Crowley, whose support was crucial to Quinn's ascension to speaker, was also there, as was Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer.
Late this morning, the office of Public Advocate Bill de Blasio, who is also running for mayor, announced that his staff, along with staff members from the offices of state senator José Peralta, and Council Member Julissa Ferreras, will join assemblyman Francisco Moya to distribute 1,000 bilingual pamphlets entitled How You Can Help Prevent Sexual Assault and Harassment near the 74th Street, 82nd Street and Junction Boulevard subway stations in Jackson Heights and Corona.
Here's the release.
