A Mitt Romney event for young professionals who want to meet old hedge-funders

Having sewn up nearly all the right-leaning fund-raisers in New York City, Mitt Romney's campaign is now going after their sons and daughters.

On Thursday night, two of Romney's most committed financial backers, Julian Robertson and John Griffin, will host a relatively low-dollar event for young professionals at Desmond's on East 60th Street.

The event is $50 in advance, or $75 at the door, according to the invitation. The host committee includes a few last names in common with some of Romney's other New York events, which usually require a contribution of $1,000 or $2,500, and includes a couple of other recognizable names, like Victoria Thain, the daughter of former Merrill Lynch CEO John Thain.

Robertson, who is 79, isn't exactly a young professional. But as the founder of Tiger Management, a hedge-fund pioneer that spawned many subsequent firms (including Griffin's Blue Ridge Capital), the chance to schmooze with Robertson appears to be the primary draw for the event.
