Businessman and former G.O.P. gubernatorial nominee Carl Paladino, the most highly visible remaining supporter of Newt Gingrich in New York, says the former speaker's somewhat-suspended campaign plans to make an aggressive push here before the April 24 primary.

"I think he's got a blistering schedule planned," said Paladino, who mentioned events in the Buffalo area and central New York, though he declined to offer specifics. (A campaign spokesperson didn't return an email about the campaign's plans.)

Facing a shortage of funds, Gingrich drastically scaled back his campaign last month, saying he'll only compete in states where it makes strategic sense in the context of his broader goal of trying to deny Mitt Romney a delegate victory and force a brokered convention.

"If Newt can put up a decent number in New York, I think he'd have some power at the convention," Paladino said.

"Unlike these other pussies that are saying, 'Oh, we don't want to have a brokered convention, oh'—they're a bunch of pussies, OK? Those are the ones that are the establishment boys that think they're still viable with the people. They're not viable with the people anymore. Those are the control boys. All they're about is keeping the status quo and the status quo is not real anymore for the Republican rank and file nationally."

Paladino ran a highly successful primary campaign in 2010 as an insurgent candidate for governor, hammering against the Republican establishment and beating former congressman Rick Lazio by a nearly 2-to-1 margin, before getting crushed by Andrew Cuomo in the general election.

Paladino said Romney is a "mope," and that his victories were a product of the establishment he ran against.

"I believe that what I'm watching is the Republican establisment, and I'm talking about the big boys putting up a lot of money, so that they can buy the election and push Romney's buttons," he said. "Because I don't think Romney has the intellectual capacity to do it on his own, do the right thing."

On the issues, Paladino praised Gingrich and said Romney was a "chameleon" trying to satisfy the electorate.

"He's so confused on his own issues, he doesn't know if he's coming or going. But he's got the pretty face and he looks presidential, he's not a little roly-poly like Newt Gingrich."

Paladino also criticized Romney for his offshore investments, which the Washington Post reported yesterday still aren't fully known, because the campaign is utilizing an obscure exception in federal ethics laws.

"Yes, he may be doing it in the letter of the law, in hiding his money overseas, to not pay taxes to the government that he now wants to run," Paladino said. "Sounds sort of like [Jeff] Immelt at G.E., you know, they hold all that money offshore and, 'Oh, I'm an American.' He's not an American anymore. He's a fucking two-faced cock-sucker that shipped the x-ray division over to China last week."

Never one to lower expectations, Paladino said he expected Gingrich could even win New York, where Romney currently holds what look like a prohibitive lead in the polls over the rest of the remaining field.

"Romney is an establishment man, and I was the non-establishment person," he said. "So I'll stand at [Gingrich's] side as the non-establishment person in New York, and I would expect he should win that primary. Because the people are still as mad as hell."

You just can't say it any better!!! But what he needs to do is put his money where his mouth is and schedule some HUGE RALLIES for NEWT in New York...All over New York in fact!! He needs to do a 60/40 wtih the places that he gets to commit to Gingrich for a speech site. 60% goes to the campaign and 40% goes to the location!! Everybody wants to make money! And once the PEOPLE hear Newt he's got em!!! We can't just talk about it anymore....there has to be Action! Newt has thousands of volunteers across the County...all there needs to be is some organization to get these people together for the cause and it could be HUGE!!!

If Paladino can turn out the vote for Newt in Western NY like he did in 2010 Newt will carry a few Districts and remember this really are race by District plus a statewide race.

The contest is going to very interesting in the NYC districts were you have much fewer Registered Republicans.

Turnout could be very very low.

Gingrich has the best resumé for the Presidency. But hiring is not usually a matter of who has the best resumé. We suffer the consequences, when that's the case.

He's having a non-establishment fantasy. Newt won't carry a district.

Did Paladino lose his psych meds? Sorry to say, but I don't see where the news agencies would even consider his opinion worth publishing. The war is to defeat Obama, petty battles when it is obviously over is counterproductive to winning the war.

I support this man and his comments! The base needs to take back control of the GOP. These establishment looser would be drowning in obscurity were it not for the spontaneous actions of the base putting together the Tea Party movement and giving them the majority in the House in 2010.

Now the establishment is going to stick it's finger in our eye and force Romney down our throats? Not gonna happen loosers.

If Romney's the nominee, this lifetime Republican is not voting in November!

A Romney Nomination will guarantee an Obama win and you can take that to the bank. If you w really want to rid the country of Obama then the only chance is a Gingrich nomination and even then it will come down to debates. Wake up people before it is too late. Romney will stutter in the debates when any difficult questions are asked and will fall like a rock. You may not like Gingrich but he would be far better than Obama and he would even put the GOP's good ole boys club in their place!

Gingrich is almost as much of a loudmouth as Paladino, though a lot smarter. He should confine himself to being a pundit and leave it to Romney to attempt to defeat Obama.

The battle for the republican nomination has truly been a battle for the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
unfortunate that influence by special intererst donors, whomever they may be , have had so much clout .

unprecedented as far back as I can remember to see this amount of $$$$ having so much sway on the direction of elections. A common citizen even the most brilliant and qualified would never stand a chance!!!!

Newt Gingrich is my only hope for this country. Romney’s record did not impress me much and his Romney care will be a huge issue during this coming election, only delusional person can think otherwise. I must give liberals a credit; they played republicans so well; they set it up from the beginning that Romney is the most electable person because they knew that Obama can bit Romney in a heart bit. Obama care was based on Romney care, Romney increased taxes when he was a Governor, he was pro-gun, pro-choice and the list is going on and on. Now imagine a debate between Obama and Romney, two people who have so much in common to compete against each other, only one guy has the love and support from every network and TV station in a country and the other one is supported by FOX, so you do the math that is going to win. No brainer to me. Good job democrats.

If Romney will be the Republican alternative to OBAMA, I may choose the STAY AT HOUSE "alternative," RATHER THAN VOTING, because...in voting for Romney...I don't even know what I will vote for, 'cause I simply don't know where this guy stands... He is all over, on the right, middle and center....like a chameleon...
