The New York Post and DNAinfo both described City Council Speaker Christine Quinn's speech yesterday as an effort to distance herself from Mayor Michael Bloomberg as she prepares to campaign for Democratic primary voters in the 2013 mayor's race.

During an appearance on "Good Day New York" today, host Greg Kelly read a line from the Post that said Quinn made "a sharp left turn" in her speech.

Quinn, grinning, replied, "It really wasn't a speech, to me, about left or right. I think usually that's not a useful dialogue anyway. It was questions of how do we make people's lives better."
