Retiring congressman Maurice Hinchey has $83,714.20 in his campaign account, according to his latest filing.
Between Oct. 1 and Dec. 31 of last year, Hinchey's campaign raised $35,266. Hinchey didn't spend much money on fund-raising; only $243, according to the filing. $4,959 went to campaign consultants in Washington D.C.
Last month, Hinchey, a liberal Democrat, said he would not seek another term in office.
At his Jan. 19 press conferene, Hinchey referred to the "life-changing" experience he underwent when he was treated for colon cancer, saying it gave him "an even greater appreciation for my family, my friends and, quite frankly, my time."
Hinchey's mid-Hudson Valley district is likely to be carved up by the state legislators in charge of redrawing legislative lines for this year's elections.
