Jessica Roy is joining New York's New York news blog, Daily Intelligencer, as senior writer, digital editorial director Ben Williams said in a statement today.

She will cover general news, internet culture and viral stories.

Roy, who wrote and edited stories about web culture as Newsfeed editor at Time since September 2013, starts her new job Aug. 11.

The constellation of New York Media websites she joins, including nymag.com, Vulture.com, The Cut and Grub Street, has seen its web audience grow by 28 percent from the first half of 2013 to the same period this year, according to internal measurement from Omniture. The sites had an average of 18.5 million monthly unique visitors for the first six months of 2014.

Roy is the second hire at New York to be announced this week. In a Monday morning memo to staff, editor in chief Adam Moss said New York Times Magazine deputy editor Lauren Kern would be returning to the magazine as executive editor. She had worked as New York before departing for the Times Magazine in 2010.
