Allie Jones, an editorial fellow at Atlantic Media's blog The Wire, is leaving the site to join Gawker as a staff writer covering news and politics, Jones confirmed to Capital.

Jones started at The Wire in July of 2013 during former Gawker editor Gabriel Snyder's tenure as editor there.

“Of course, I will miss everyone at The Wire,” Jones told Capital when reached by email. “I'm especially grateful to Gabriel Snyder and Elle Reeve for hiring me and teaching me how to blog.”

Jones will continue at The Wire until the end of next week and start at Gawker in June.

"Anyone who knows me knows that I wouldn't be able to resist a dedicated and ambitious reporter who turns her skills on the weird world of cheerleading Instagram celebrities, as Allie did for an incredible multi-part series for The Wire," Gawker editor Max Read told Capital. "I'm excited for her to bring that eye and those talents to Gawker, and to train them on all kinds of subjects."
