It took a few days, but Jill Abramson's ouster from the top of The New York Times masthead finally got the tabloid treatment, care of the New York Post.

"AN-GREY LADY!" read the wood on Friday morning accompanying a widely circulated social media shot of Abramson in boxing gloves and ball cap working a heavy bag in the gym. And for the sub-hed: "Sacked Times editor ready to rumble."

Abramson's daughter Cornelia Griggs posted the shot to her Instagram account on Thursday with the caption, "Mom's badass new hobby." Griggs also included fists and a biceps emojis and the hashtags "#girls" "#pushy."

The shot was all but certainly a reference to reports that Times Company chairman and publisher Arthur Sulzberger Jr. dismissed Abramson in part for her brusque management style.

Post designers dropped in a shot of Sulzberger sporting a black eye for good measure. (Scroll down a bit to view the full page.)

Asked whether the Post asked permission for use of the photo on Twitter Friday morning, Griggs wrote, "wasn't asked, but not objecting."
