The Wall Street Journal has found a replacement for Jacob Gershman on the Albany beat, Capital has learned.
Sources tell us that Erica Orden, who's been covering the movie industry out of The Journal's Los Angeles bureau for a little over a year, will soon move back to the East Coast to take over the paper's statehouse coverage.
Prior to her stint in Hollywood, Orden was an arts reporter for The Journal based in New York. Before that she worked at New York magazine and The New York Sun, where Gershman and several other reporters for the paper's Greater New York section got their start.
Orden has some big shoes to fill: Gershman was a fixture on the Albany beat, having covered the capitol since the mid-2000s, first for The Sun before it folded and then for The Journal. He consistently succeeded in rankling the Cuomo administration with his scoops.
Now Gershman's moving over to cover "legal matters" for The Journal, as my colleague Azi Paybarah recently reported.
Orden's expected to be in Albany by February.
