The extent of the Condé Nast layoffs we reported on yesterday is now clear.
In all, 60 employees were let go, including staffers at GQ, Brides and Self, which appears to have lost the most blood, according to reports in W.W.D. and the New York Post. A tipster tells us the vaunted publisher's golf titles were also hit hard.
Sixty is a significant number, but it's still nothing compared to the McKinsey downsizing of 2009, which claimed hundreds of jobs and six publications.
This week's cuts were enacted by individual publications and departments, which have been instructed to cut their 2013 budgets by 5 percent. The gems of the company, The New Yorker, Vanity Fair and Vogue, managed to not hand out any pink slips.
