Coincidence? 'New York Post,' 'Daily,' next-door neighbors at News Corp. HQ, both score big with 'THIS IS YOUR CAPTAIN FREAKING' headline

As we noted last week, The New York Post and The Daily are for the most part entirely segregated, though they are siblings with adjacent spaces at News Corp's Sixth Avenue headquarters.
They seem, however, to share a brain.
Behold the headline about the JetBlue pilot meltdown on the Post's wood today: "THIS IS YOUR CAPTAIN FREAKING."
And on the cover of today's Daily: "THIS IS YOUR CAPTAIN FREAKING."
They used the same photo, too, though The Daily's is cleaned up for tablet readers and the Post's for print.
It happens often enough even with tabloid rival the Daily News, the same punning headline for the same story.
But in this case, Jesse Angelo, who heads up The Daily, was Col Allan's No. 2 in the Post newsroom before Rupert Murdoch plucked him to lead News Corp.'s newish tablet effort.
He also retains his Post executive editor title and is expected to take on a larger role in steering nypost.com.
The Daily's copy chief, Jon Blackwell, also came from the Post, where he worked for 10 years. So there is a fair amount of shared DNA.
A spokesperson for Rubenstein, which handles P.R. for both publications, did not immediately respond to a request for comment on whether this was a coincidence or some kind of synergy exercise. But we'll update if we hear back.
