Jeb Jr.: Rubio should ‘drop out or do something’
NEW YORK — Jeb Bush Jr. told a group of college students Thursday afternoon that Sen. Marco Rubio should "drop out or do something" rather than miss votes by campaigning for president.
"As a Floridian, I'm a little disappointed, because he's missing, like, 35 percent of his votes. And it's just, kind of, like, dude, you know, either drop out or do something, but we're paying you to do something, it ain't run for president," Bush Jr. told about about 70 students at a New York University College Republicans event.
His father, the former Florida governor, out-raised Rubio by more than two to one between July. 1 and Sept. 30, their campaigns said Thursday. Bush raised a little over $13 million and Rubio about $6 million.
"We're way ahead of Marco's campaign," Bush Jr. said. "We've got four offices set up in Florida. Our national headquarters is there. Marco doesn't have an office in Florida."
CORRECTION: Jeb Bush Jr. spoke to about 70 students at the College Republicans event, not 30 as was reported earlier.
