Your predictions for the NY-9 special election of 2011

9:00 pm Sep. 13, 2011

So, the polls have closed and the unofficial results are trickling in. A few readers bravely ventured predictions. A majority of the people who responded said they thought there's going to be a Republican upset, but that may say something about by limited email list.

The predictions:

Weprin wins

54-46: Fake Sheldon Silver (@sheldonsilver)

53.3-54.2: George Fontas

53-47: "The election day operation 'pulls' it out for him."--Patrick Jenkins

52-48: Jerry Skurnik

50-49: Alan Flacks

"Weprin by 1 to 3 per cent." -- George Arzt

"Weprin wins by a hair, or loses by 5%."--Stuart Osnow

"Weprin emerges victorious due to a Tom DiNapoli-like union vote pull. Final, Weprin by 270 votes."--Chairmian Neary

Turner wins

49-47-4: Steve Kramer

50.1-40.9 (10 for Avigdor Lieberman): Alex Pareene

52-48: Hank Sheinkopf

52.5-46.4: Colin Campbell

52.5-46.7 (and .8 for the "socialist guy"): Steve Kornacki*

53-47: Kevin Elkins

54-46: Alex L. (He's a Democrat)

55-44: Benjamin Fried

55.3-44.4: Andrew Carden

58.5-41.5: Brian Rafferty "when all the challenges are complete."

And one operative not working on either campaign emailed to say, "Mark Weprin's staff takes Fredo fishing in a small boat on Jamaica Bay Thursday."

CORRECTION: I originally misplaced Kornacki in the Weprin column. He predicts Turner.
